Every summer EUCC drives out to the French Alps for a 2-week long trip of epic proportions! Decent whitewater and sunshine? most of these wee scots don’t remember what the sun looks like! Plus as much cheese, baguettes, and wine as you can eat/drink.

We’ll camp at a campsite close to the river, and venture out to neighbouring rivers over the two weeks we spend there. There is the opportunity to paddle every day, but previous years’ trips’ have also included climbing, hiking and canyoning if that’s something you fancy.

Because you’ll spend so much time on the water, you’ll gain a lot of experience and have a lot of time to perfect those skills. It will also be an amazing time socially – as there’s usually a lot of other British and Irish uni clubs who have similar plans, so enough opportunity to meet new people and party!

Alpine rivers are quite continuous and therefore rescues are slightly more faffy than on your average Scottish river. Therefore, we expect those who tag along for our Alps trip to have been on a couple of river trips and proven they can roll in the pool.

The cost for the Alps trip will depend on a load of factors, but it has been said that it’s ‘the cheapest holiday you can book’ – so that’s something!
